PayPal Setup

It is important that your PayPal account be set up properly to work with the GBC Photo Contest System. This step ensures that your GBCPhotoContest.com contest will be notified whenever your account is credited and allow uploads, votes, and donations to be collected!

  1. Go to PayPal.com and sign up, if you don’t already have an account. A Business Standard account will work for most agencies. If you already have an account, you can skip to step 3.
  2. Follow the instructions at PayPal.com to verify your account.
  3. Complete the registration for your GBCPhotoContest site, including the PayPal address where required. If you have already signed up for your contest, skip to step 6.
  4. After your site is ready, you’ll receive a notice that says something like:
    The site Your_Site_Name is yours.
    http://gbcphotocontest.com/your-site-name/ is your new site. Log in as “your_username” using your existing password.   
  5. Copy URL provided for step 10.
  6. Go into your PayPal account and under the “My Account” tab, select Profile->More Options.
  7. Next, select “My Selling Tools”.
  8. Find “Instant payment notifications” and click “update”.
  9. Click “Choose IPN Settings”.
  10. Set the Notification URL to http://gbcphotocontest.com/your-site-name/?page=gf_paypal_ipn and set IPN Messages to Receive IPN Messages (Enabled).
    Please be sure to replace “your-site-name” in the link above with the actual site name of your contest! (ie. for the sample "Carmen's House" contest, the url site name is "carmenshouse", so the IPN notification is http://gbcphotocontest.com/carmenshouse/?page=gf_paypal_ipn).
